The Coastal Pastel Society of North Carolina—formed
in 1996 to promote standards of excellence and to
encourage the use of soft pastels—has grown to more
than 80 members. The Society holds monthly meetings,
featuring demonstrations, programs and critiques, on the
third Saturday of February, March April, May, September,
October, November and December. [no meetings in January,
